Startup Mode Key Combinations for Boston / Z71 and clones
To enter the mode you want to carry and hold up the screen or turn the phone vibrate. These combinations are performed with the phone off.
recovery mode - camera + power + vol up
fastboot mode - red + vol down + power
ftm mode - vol up vol down + power +
download mode - red + power + vol up
master reset - red + camera + power
Master Reset NOTE: Will miss all the applications you have installed and will have to set some terminal services. As they advance through the menus will asking to re-enter lost data (e-mail account, etc.).
Root de Optimus Boston with original Android 1.6
To get root permissions on Optimus Boston:
- Drivers for Windows x32 and x64: http://rapidshare.com/files/393387415/driv.ers.bost.on.rar

1 .- Unzip the drivers folder on the Desktop and the folder of files to root the phone at a location simple and short, eg c: \ GoRoot A688.
2 .- With the phone off, press the two volume keys and while doing so, press and hold power for a few seconds. The phone will start in FTM mode with a black screen and white letters.
3 .- Connect your phone to your PC and when it ask for drivers, enter the folder that driver should have on your desktop and inside that corresponds to your OS, x32 or x64. If windows warn the drivers are unsigned ignore and continue with the installation.
4 .- Once all the drivers installed, open a command console by pressing the keyboard of your PC the Windows key and R key, the area of writing that will appear type cmd and hit enter.
5 .- In the console commands we have to go to the place where you unpacked the files to the root, in our case c: \ GoRoot A688, type in the console, without quotes "cd C: \ GoRoot A688.
6 .- Once we find this folder, write "goroot.bat" (again without the quotes) and hope that the process is complete. When the operation is finished we will have our Boston with Root permissions.
For those who want to keep the 480Mhz from the Official 2.1 and just Root to install App2SD

Unzip the SDK to C:
1. Download Recovery
2. Copy recovery for the c: \ android-sdk-windows \ tools
3. Turn on in fastboot in the mobile phone (red + Vol Down + power)
4. Open CMD and do "cd c: \ android-sdk-windows \ tools \"
5. A see if your phone is recognized by fastboot do "fastboot devices", to appear at a "?". Otherwise return nothing on the command line have to install the drivers. To do this open the device manager of Windows and see if there is any device with an error. Update the devices with an error pointing to the drivers who have downloaded folder.
6. Execute "fastboot flash recovery a88recovery-2.1.img" 7. For exit fastboot do "fastboot reboot"

This tutorial is for those who want to maintain the official ROM with the drivers and kernel level, but want to benefit from the Root and App2SD.
I just made the tutorial because I see many users asking for the root, but do not want to install mod's Official Rom
Note: App2sd not appear as an option or application on Android. The applications are being installed on the memory card without us having to manage this process.
